The power of Humility
I grew up in a Christian home. The only time I remember going to a Catholic church was when I was in high school (but only seldom) when my circle of friends would go there to have their confession. Learning things about the Catholic beliefs and history somehow excites me and I can say that almost all information from the subject is new to me
The new insights that I've learned from the subject is about the German invasion to the Roman Catholic Christianity and it amazes me that it was the Roman Catholic Christianity who had influenced the German Arian Christians especially when it comes to spiritual beliefs and practices rather than the latter influences the first. Perhaps this is because from the things I've learned in my previous history classes, it is the invader who influenced the one they invaded rather than the opposite. Another thing I've learned is the corruption within the church organization that resulted to some changes in the organization to prevent it from happening again. Again I've realized that people are really self-centered that sometimes they use their power and position to get what they want.
Upon knowing the story of the German Arian Christian invasion to the Roman Catholic Christianity and the impact the latter made to the German Arian Christian, It is really important to know what we believe in; from the biggest to the smallest detail of it. Personally there are times that I would think I know better than the others especially when I compare myself to the unbelievers but I've learned that it should not be like that. I should not be too confident but rather be on guard always so that what happened to the German Arian Christian will not happen to me. Another thing for me is that when given the opportunity to be in a certain position, I should not use that position for my own benefits. It should be used to do what is entrusted for me to do.
First of all, I need to recognize that whatever opportunities will be given to me, it is a blessing from God to be treasured and valued. In that way I will be able to humble myself. It is also important to be faithful in what is entrusted to us because we don't know when it will be taken away from us. And the last thing is that, I need to be honest with God, myself and other people which means that I need to do faithfully every opportunity that is given to me forsaking my own desire and focus on what is good for all.
