The Legacy
I like the video that we watched earlier. It showed concisely the facts that happened during the time of the rise of the Roman Empire.
While watching the video, I couldn't stop hiding my face during some scenes that were really bloody and brutal. I didn't realize that many lives were lost just because of some people who were so greedy with their power and position.
One of the characters I admire most in the video was Lactantius. Though he was only a mere scribe, he did not hesitate to encourage and tell Emperor Constantine to believe in God. I believe it was his faith and dedication to God and of course the work of the Holy Spirit that drove Constantine to try fighting “in the name of God”.
Another character that I like also was the character of Constantine. I really admire the goodness within him. He was a type of person who was not greedy of his power and position. He always thought of others’ welfare. Even his faith in God was also seen in his life. Indeed, he made a great impact to Christianity. I just didn't understand sometimes his way of accomplishing things which he thought was right especially when he let his sister be married to Licinius to achieve the peace he desired for both western and eastern part of Roman Empire. That was too much risk for me. Good thing Licinius and Constantia fell in love with each other in the long run because if not, the marriage will only make Constantia's life miserable.
Of everything Constantine did, what I don't like the most and seem questionable was what he did to his brother-in-law, Licinius. I don't understand why he needed to have him killed. I thought he had already forgiven him and gave him another chance but he still asked for his life. He put justice in his hands which is not the proper thing for a person who believes in God to do. Why not just let him and his family live happily. This was the question that was really bothering me.

In spite of everything, I think I still need to be grateful to Emperor Constantine for what he did to spread Christianity. I admire him as a person and hopefully, there would be another Constantine that will rise in the future to let Christianity be known to the world.
