This week's topic is something that we, Christians, should appreciate and ponder. Upon listening to the report and reading the book, I've realized that I am so privileged that I was still able to know Christianity and even become part of it. I've already heard and read before how the early Christians and churches struggled because of their faith and teaching but I didn't realize that it was that great. That's one thing that is new for me. They needed to prove and defend the distinction of the genuine Christianity from the false one. Another thing I've learned is the number of false beliefs and practices that battled against Christianity before. A few of them I heard already. I've learned that even before, there was already a strong opposition against Christianity to the point that some organizations meant to misunderstand its teaching and tried twisting it. But as always, the truth prevailed and will prevail no matter how someone tries to ruin it.
I admit that sometimes, I neglect the truth that is in me right now. Perhaps it is because I haven't understood and grasped totally what the early church needed to go through. But now that I have more knowledge about it, I will be more courageous to defend the truth that I believe in. Not just that, I will try to correct (in a gentle way) the person I know who will try to twist the truth that the Bible teaches. This course learning is a great way to remind myself to be bold (just like those people who have wrong beliefs and practices) to tell others what is founded in the Bible.
Everything needs to start within ourselves. I am aware that I need to develop some things in my life to be able to become like the early Christians. Reminding myself of what Christ has done for me and what the early Christians went through would be a great way to start building my confidence and to be bold. Listening to the Holy Spirit's prompting is very important also. Of course, it would be somehow easier to start it with my friends. It's always been my desire to share the truth to them. Hopefully this coming Christmas vacation, we'll be able to see each other again so I will have the opportunity to tell them the truth about Christ and Christmas especially because it's one of the highlights for this vacation.
